Eat & Run: Indonesia

Spending 9 Days in Indonesia, on a week of a National Holiday, was an adventure. It was short for sure, but I got to see tons of new sights and have a fun-filled cultural trip.

My main takeaway is how gorgeous of a nature-destination Indonesia is. I knew what to expect but I was still in awe every time I see a place in person. The beauty of each place were hard to contain on photos and videos. But that didn’t stop me from trying to capture their essence.

Borobudur

Years ago I only saw this temple being visited by contestants of the Amazing Race. I never imagined I would be able to go there so this visit was special. Even though it has similarities to other Southeast Asian Buddhist temples, it still stands out because of its unique built and native Indonesian elements.

Our whole morning in this National Park is an experience I will forever remember. We barely had sleep from leaving late the previous night, but the sights were too beautiful to be slept on. It was cold, ashy, and rough, but the whole experience made it all worth it.

Nusa Penida

This was one of the places that we couldn’t miss. I allotted a whole day for this visit, and it was only enough for sightseeing. I would have loved to explore each beach more if we only had time. Going down to Kelingking Beach is definitely something I would do the next time I go back here.

This trip to Indonesia came at the right time. I’m glad I didn’t rush going there and just waited for the perfect moment to book flights. It was also a good decision to focus solely on Indonesia and not include any other countries for this trip. I was able connect more with the country and with every city we went to, and not get confused which country is which.
