Check out these 7 activities to help you plan your trip to Dubai. These are for me, the best way to experience the city as how it should be!
Walk through the glass floor of Dubai Frame
A relatively new attraction, Dubai Frame stands at the edge of Zabeel Park framing the skyline of the city. At the top of the frame, you get to see the modern and old Dubai from each side of the room. Some parts of the floor are also made of high-tech glass that are initially opaque, and becomes clear when stepped on. It’s a cool experience up there, most especially on sunset.
Watch the fountain show outside Burj Khalifa
At the foot of Burj Khalifa is a 30 acre man-made lake that houses the world’s tallest performing fountain. The show happens throughout the day in tune to different music, traditional and modern. For me, the best place to see it is from the balcony of the Apple store in Dubai Mall. There I got to see a much wider point-of-view of the lake and the performances.
Go on a Desert Safari Adventure
A trip to Dubai wouldn’t be complete without experiencing the desert. Good thing there are multiple companies online that offer a desert safari tour. The tour gets you on a 4×4 ride through the middle of the desert. Then you get dropped off on a desert camp to experience traditional food and performances. Everything is a bit staged, but it’s the new adventure that matters.
Shop at an Arab Market
In my opinion, going to a local market is one of the best activities to get to know a place. There are a lot of markets or “souk” all over old Dubai and they’re all as culturally-enriching to explore as each other. A great itinerary would be to explore the markets around Al Fahidi then cross the Dubai Creek by abra, and explore more markets around Al Ras.
Ride an Abra across Dubai Creek
The most fun way to get to Deira from Bur Dubai is by riding a traditional abra that costs only 1 Dirham. It’s cheap and easy, and you get to have a cultural experience. Although a lot of tourists ride it, it’s still as authentic as it could be.
Explore Old Dubai around Al Fahidi
The area of Al Fahidi is the center for historical and cultural activities. A short walk from the metro station is Al Fahidi Historical Neighborhood that has traditional architecture and amazing shops. There are also museums in the area like the Coin Museum and Dubai Museum.
Go sunbathing with a view of Burj Al Arab
A picture-perfect view of Burj Al-Arab, the world’s most luxurious hotel, is located along the shores of Jumeirah Public Beach. Aside from the view of the hotel is the beach’s amazing golden sand and bright blue water.
